Why a dojo
Staking into a subnet is a swap. Swaps have a cost.
Every Bittensor subnet has a pool that holds TAO on one side and the subnet's own alpha token on the other. When you stake, your TAO goes into the pool and alpha comes out. The more you put in relative to the pool, the worse the price you get. Most people learn this with real money.
The dojo lets you learn it with practice money. It reads both sides of every pool from the chain about once a minute and prices your trade with the same rule the pool follows.
The rule
alpha_out = alpha_pool × τ_in ÷ (τ_pool + τ_in) impact = τ_in ÷ alpha_out ÷ price − 1
Staking 50 τ into a pool that holds 5,000 τ costs about 1% before you have earned anything. Staking the same 50 τ into a pool that holds 200,000 τ costs almost nothing. Positions in your practice account are valued at what you would receive by unstaking right now, slippage included.
Limits
Staking rewards are not simulated yet, so results are price-only. The 0.05% fee is an estimate. Your practice trades do not move the real pool. Your account is saved in this browser and nowhere else.
